Description

These days Ensign peek is a nice hike that anyone can go on. All along the way are signs that tell you more about the history behind it.

On 26 July 1847 Brigham Young and several others climbed to the top which he named "Ensign Peak," as he reported the event in his journal. They used the view from the summit to visually explore the entire valley, and help them settle Salt Lake.

A monument is now at the top of the hill in memory of these events. It is at the top of the hike.
